Trader Guide / Section 4
The Floor & Rooms
The competitive earning path: timed contests with prize pools, from $7.
Trading Rooms are the competitive way to earn on The Desk , short, timed contests with a prize pool, starting from $7.
4.1 What is the Floor? What is a Room?
The Floor is the competitive arena of The Desk , where Rooms run.
A Room is a timed trading contest with a prize pool. You pay an entry fee to take a seat, you trade during the Room's window, and you're ranked against everyone else in the Room. The top finishers split the pool.
- Entry from $7. Different Rooms have different entry fees and durations.
- Short formats. Rooms can be as short as one hour , a fast, contained burst of
competitive trading.
- A prize pool funded by the entries, paid out to the top of the leaderboard.
Rooms are a great fit when you want a quick, competitive result rather than a full funded day.
The six Room formats
All contests are Rooms; the format sets how long the Room runs and what it costs to enter. Longer formats have bigger prize pools and carry more weight toward your Rating (4.5). From shortest to longest:
| Format | Window | Entry from | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Snap | 1 hour | $7 | A fast, contained burst |
| Session | 4 hours | $15 | A focused half-day push |
| Daily | 24 hours | $22 | A full trading day |
| Sprint | 3 days | $30 | A multi-day run |
| Cup | 7 days | $45 | A week-long campaign |
| Major | 30 days | $70 | The flagship, month-long event |
To enter, go to The Floor, pick the format you want (for example a 1-hour Snap), choose an open Room, and take your seat. Entry fees shown are starting prices; joining late in a Room's window can carry a small premium.
4.2 Joining a Room
- Go to the Floor and browse the open Rooms.
- Read the Room before you join: entry fee, duration, how many seats, and the
prize pool. Pick one that fits your style and bankroll.
- Reserve your seat by paying the entry fee (from your Wallet , cash or Desk
Credit, or a giveaway Room credit).
- You're in , you'll trade when the Room's window runs.
Entry fees start at $7, so you can compete without committing much, and the pool grows as seats fill.
4.3 Competing in a Room
When the Room is live:
- The clock runs. You trade your edge within the Room's time window.
- You're ranked. A live leaderboard tracks every competitor's performance, so
you can see where you stand.
- Trade to place. Because only the top finishers are paid, Rooms reward decisive,
well-judged trading under time pressure , a different skill from a full funded day, and a great one to develop.
4.4 Prizes and payouts
How the pool is split: the prize pool is paid out to the top finishers , the highest-ranked traders in the Room. The exact split depends on the Room.
Typical outcomes: in many Rooms, the traders who finish in the top few places make several times their entry fee , often in the range of 3x to 10x for the very top spots. (This varies by Room, field size, and how the session plays out , it is not guaranteed; competition is real.)
Getting paid: your winnings are auto-deposited to your Wallet as withdrawable funds (withdrawable after KYC, Section 6). There's nothing to claim , place well and the payout arrives.
4.5 Rooms and your Rating
Rooms aren't just for the prize , they are how your Rating is earned. Rating is a competitive, chess-style score: you are measured against other Rating-matched traders, and placing well moves it up. So every Room is both a chance to win money and the primary way you climb toward higher tiers (Section 5).
How much a single Room moves your Rating depends on three things: field strength (beating higher-rated traders is worth more), the Room type (longer, higher-stakes formats carry far more weight than a quick Snap), and how new you are (new traders' results count extra so you reach your level fast). One guardrail: only your first few Rooms each day carry full weight, so quality beats grinding. Your trading outside Rooms also nudges your Rating a little (Section 5.1), but Rooms are the main engine.
4.6 Rooms FAQ and troubleshooting
"I didn't place , do I get anything back?" Rooms are contests: only the top finishers are paid from the pool, so a non-placing entry doesn't return the fee. But the trading still counts toward your Rating.
"When do winnings arrive?" Top-finisher payouts auto-deposit to your Wallet when the Room settles. Check your Wallet transaction history; if something looks off, contact support (Section 10.4).
"How do I pick a good Room?" Match the entry fee to your bankroll, the duration to your style, and consider the field size , read the Room details before reserving.
